The nose showcases elevated blackberry notes that intermix with baking spice, clove, tobacco and a touch of pepper. The mouthfeel resumes the vibrant blackberries with a heavier tannin midpalate and long expressive finish.
The wine was aged for 20 months in 92% new French oak barrels.
Hand-harvested fruit was gently destemmed and 100% optically sorted. 69% of this wine was fermented in tank and 31% was fermented with whole berries in select barrels. The combination of both types of fermentation help with extraction of ripe tannins and preservation of fresh fruit flavors. Pressed at dryness, malolactic fermentation was completed in barrels.
